As a performer, Madeleine has played flute and piccolo with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera and Ensemble 360. Her repertoire spans baroque, contemporary and world music, and she loves encouraging students to explore the styles and pieces that genuinely interest them.
Madeleine has a deep connection to Devizes. She participated in the Devizes Eisteddfod from age six onwards and was named Runner-up Young Musician of Wiltshire. Returning to teach in her hometown allows her to give back to the musical community that shaped her early musicianship.
She teaches flute and piccolo to all levels and is happy to discuss repertoire, performance goals and what you’re hoping to get from lessons.
Carmen Tunney BA Hons, PGCE
I have been living and working in Wiltshire for 30 years. I raised a family in Melksham whilst teaching the violin (and often viola and cello) in schools all over the county ranging from primary to secondary in groups and in individual lessons. I also have a number of adult students, who are either beginners or returning players. I am able to teach from beginner to Grade 8 level, incorporating ensemble playing, folk and classical music as well as note reading and playing by ear. There have been many ABRSM exam successes for those students wanting to go in that direction. This is always an optional path. I have played in folk and ceilidh bands throughout this time and in other classical chamber groups and orchestras and currently am Leader of the Trowbridge Symphony Orchestra. It is always a joy to play different genres of music.

I started playing drums at 15 years old after seeing a guy tapping on the desk in Science class. It blew my mind that such sounds could be created just by tapping on a desk. From that day on I was hooked, and pursing drums as a career was the best decision I ever made.
After school I enrolled in The Academy of Contemporary Music and graduated in 2006 with a Diploma, Higher Diploma and BA Honours Degree in drumming.
After graduating from the ACM I joined rock band Brother & Bones. I have since toured extensively and have had the pleasure of recording in some of the worlds best recording studios, including East West (Hollywood) and Mono Valley (Wales).
As well as performing I also a have a huge passion for educating and I continue to build a roster of passionate drummers that I can guide and mentor onto becoming master drummers.
